Image classification is a branch of computer vision that focuses on categorizing and labelling groups of pixels.


Object detection

A subtask within image classification is not the classification of the entire image, but the classification of groups of pixels within the image. This is known as object detection. Classifiers can be created to detect one or multiple objects within a single image.

What does TNO offer on image classification?

TNO has an entire research group dedicated to Intelligent imaging. Consisting of about 40 professionals, the Intelligent imaging group engages in image processing, image enhancement, image analysis, visual pattern recognition, and artificial intelligence. They work in various domains and research, for example, methods on increasing the situational awareness of operators and robots. The are knowledgeable about many state-of-the-art (SOTA) deep learning imaging technologies, such as also used for image classification.
